Camp Outreach History and Today’s Vision

Camp Outreach has a rich history of church camping in the Black Hills. This beautiful 5-acre property was originally acquired by the First Baptist Church of Custer, SD in 1991. It was well-know for many years as Camp Volunteer.  During those years numerous, dedicated church groups came to Camp Volunteer from all across the nation to help build the cabins, the dining hall and other amenities.  These people were the original “volunteers.” There are many stories of church groups from those days who worked hard and played hard. These “volunteers” can still tell you stories of canoeing at nearby lakes, making meals together and watching kids make up their own games to play in the rock outcroppings at camp.

In 2019 Living Outreach Church acquired the camp and the name was changed to Camp Outreach.  The vision for Camp Outreach is to expanding now to reach out to more churches and Christian organizations.  This is a unique place of solitude with rustic facilities and lots of opportunity to enjoy the presence of God, and worship and fellowship together in the beautiful surroundings.
